Monitor your credit reports:
Visit annualcreditreport.com throughout the year to receive a free credit report to ensure there is no suspicious activity or accounts you don’t recognize. Federal law requires each of the three nationwide consumer credit reporting companies - Equifax, Experian and TransUnion - to give you a free credit report every 12 months if you request it. We recommend you stagger getting the reports every four months so you can have an ongoing picture of your credit profile (i.e. Equifax in December, Experian in April and TransUnion in August).
